Tis the season

May this Christmas season be a peace on earth, not be an esoteric, nice, fuzzy phrase you put on a Christmas card, but may it be the entire way you have oriented your life. may people say there goes a peacemaker and may people see something in the peace of god in the way you live, and what you are doing.

Why do we do this to ourselves?

"Mostly the discontent that you feel comes from not having enough of something-you are dissatisfied because you think you do not have enough money or power or success or fame or virtue or love, or holiness. This is not the discontentment that leads to the joy of the kingdom. Its source is greed and ambition and its fruit  is restlessness and frustration. The day you are discontented not because you want more of something but without knowing what it is you want; when you are sick at heart of everything that you have been pursuing so far and you are sick of the pursuit itself, then your heart will attain a great clarity, an insight that will cause you mysteriously to delight in everything and in nothing"

This excerpt is taken from Anthony De Mello's "The Way to Love." It struck me as a clear articulation of the motions we as Christians seem to go through many days of pursuing recognition, love, holiness, self-worth and how this tends to be a circular cycle. Why do we allow ourselves to conform to these modes of thought thinking that we will gain a certain amount of security and happiness from them? "To delight in everything and in nothing," what a beautiful phrase that in my eyes epitomizes what the Kingdom is all about.

Holy Spirit, will you please make us aware of any of these vain pursuits we are after and bring us a real contentment, the contentment of Jesus.

Tension & Thrill- Sleeping At Last

The headlines talk
Of sadness and new risk.
Life is deadly,
My finger’s to your lips.
We’ll send the world in reverse.

Love is tension and thrill
That begs to be ours.

We are diamonds waiting to be found,
Catching light in the corners of our eyes.
We are diamonds waiting to be found.

We are the hunted,
We are the shining northern lights.
We are the nervous,
We feel our hands becoming vines.
We’ll dream in color tonight.

Love is tension and thrill
That begs to be ours.
There are cities inside of everyone:
Life within life,
The trembling in our voice.

When I look into your eyes
I see the tip of an iceberg.
When I look into your eyes
I see that love is an iceberg
That throws us into the sea.

We’re walking on the ocean floor,
Feeding sharks out of our hands.

We are diamonds waiting to be found,
Catching light in the corners of our eyes.
We are diamonds waiting to be found.

Where the spirit blows..

Enough with the formulated. Why not submit? Jesus states that those who come after him will be greater than all of those before him, why? because the spirit of the Lord is upon them. enough with fast-paced half-hearted, media driven culture, let's cultivate a spirit attentive to the Lord.
